3B Gripbelt Sheaves with Split Taper Bushings
3B series pulleys(3B Gripbelt Sheaves with Split Taper Bushings) are manufactured for A, AX, AA, 4L, B, BX, BB, and 5L v-belts, ranging from 5.75″ to 38.35″ in diameter. Depending on the pulley size, they are made to use with R1 taper bushings or Q1 taper bushings, which we also stock. Most of our three-groove 3B split taper bushed pulleys are manufactured from a high-strength grade 35 cast iron, are phosphate-coated, and are painted for anti-corrosion. All of them are balanced at the factory for smooth machinery operation.

V-belt and V-belt Pulleys
In the early days of automation, the v-belt was developping to increase accuracy and torque transmission from the crankshaft to rotating assemblies. It is a mechanical linkage with a cross-section and has a shape that emulates an isosceles trapezoid. V-Belts provide impeccable speed, traction, load capabilities, and extended service life.
V-belt pulleys are working to transmit power between axles using the v-belt. Their function is solely to transfer energy between the two parallel axles. Depending on your specific application, there are many different sizes and types of v belt pulleys to choose from.
With its complementing pulley, the v-belt creates a streamlined belt drive. The devices resist slipping and misalignment, making a reliable high-speed power transmission solution.
Power-trans has a wide variety of v-belts and v-belt pulleys to choose from.
3B Gripbelt Sheaves with Split Taper Bushings Advantages & Disadvantages
V-belt drive advantages | V-belt drive disadvantages |
Minimal maintenance w/ no lubrication | Approx. temperature limit of 140° F |
Extremely reliable | Pulleys must be somewhat larger than in other belt drives |
Gradual wear, which is easily identified | Center distance between pulleys is limited (no more than 3x the diameter of the largest pulley |
Wide horsepower and speed range | Usually more expensive than other drives |
Quiet operation | Only acceptable for parallel shafts |
Vibration dampening | |
Prevents overload |
