5V Series Cast Iron Five-Groove Sheaves with Split Taper Bushings for “5V” Belts
5V series Five-Groove Sheaves with Split Taper Bushings are working with 5V, 5VX, banded 5V, and banded 5VX belts. They range from 4.60″ to 50.0″ in diameter. Depending on the sheave size, they are using Q2, R1, S1, or U1 split-taper bushings, which we also stock. Most of our five-groove 5V split taper sheaves are making from a high-strength grade 35 cast iron. With phosphate-coated and painted for anti-corrosion. Balanced at the factory for smooth machinery operation.

Split Taper Bushings Accessories
The Split taper bushings are amongst the most common bushings utilized due to their high integral strength, simplicity of installation and uninstall, and high holding power for successfully coupling a shaft onto a drive or idler component. Split taper bushings are amongst the most common bushings utilized due to their high integral strength, simplicity of installation and uninstall, and high holding power for successfully coupling a shaft onto a drive or idler component. Split taper bushings are utilized in a broad range of sheaves, conveyor pulleys, and sprockets. We stock split taper bushings ranging from the G-series to W2-series and in inch and metric bore sizes that range from 0.375″ up to 7.438″.
Split Taper Bushings Installation
1. Be sure the tapered cone surfaces of the bushing and the inside of the driven product are clean and free of anti-seize lubricants.
2. Place the bushing in a sprocket or other part type that accepts the bushing.
3. Place cap screws loosely in pull-up holes. The bushing remains loose to ensure sliding fit on the shaft.
4. With the key on the shaft, slide the sprocket or other part type to the desired position on the post. Be sure to leave the heads of the cap screws accessible.
5. Align the sprocket or part type, and tighten the screws alternatively and progressively until they are tight. At this point, there should be a gap between the bushing flange and sprocket; make sure this gap does not close. Do not use extensions on the wrench handles; do not allow the sprocket or part to be drawn in contact with the bushing flange.
Split Taper Bushings Removal
1. Loosen and remove cap screws.
2. Insert cap screws in tapped removal holes.
3. Tighten inserted screws until sprocket or other part type is loose on the shaft.
4. Remove sprocket/ part type from the shaft.
5V-Section Sheaves for V-Belts
5V-section sheaves are explicitly manufactured for 5V-series v-belts and banded 5V belts. Our 5V-section v-belt sheaves are dimensionally produced to ARPM standards, so they immediately interchange with other manufacturers. 5V pulleys only can be found in taper lock design and QD (rapid detachable) design for elevated bore variety versatility. What separates our sheaves from other individuals on the market is that most of them are produced from a grade 35 cast iron as a substitute for the standard grade 25. This creates a considerably stronger sheave with more excellent wear resistance. One thing else to note is that these sheaves have been dynamically balanced for a smoother operation and decreased vibration, resulting in longer bearing and machinery existence. Moreover, they can be phosphate and painted for added protection against corrosion.
