Types of Galvanized Chain Links
There are two main galvanized chain(G70 Galvanized Link Chain) links: electro-galvanized and hot-dip galvanized. Electro-galvanized chains are made of conventional steel, while hot-dip galvanized chains are coated with zinc. Both are durable and able to withstand harsh environments.
The former is used in construction and mining applications. The latter is used in agricultural and industrial applications. It has different grades. The best option for overhead lifting is a grade 80 alloy chain. The chain can withstand various loads and is resistant to corrosion. It can withstand up to 25% of the breaking load of the weakest link.
The application of electro-galvanized chain(G70 Galvanized Link Chain)
Universal Utility Chain is an electro-galvanized chain designed for industrial, farm, and domestic use. It is available in various grades and in hot-dip galvanized, natural, and painted finishes. However, this type of chain should not be used for overhead lifting. It should also not be used if the links are cracked, rusted, or deformed. If the chain is defective, it should be cut into short pieces and discarded.
Hot dip galvanizing is a very effective method of protecting metals from corrosion. It is the process of immersing rust-removed steel parts in a bath of molten zinc for a specified period. This process results in the deposition of a zinc layer on the metal, which provides corrosion protection.
Electro-galvanized chain links are generally more durable and longer lasting than traditional steel chains. Zinc coating adds a protective layer of zinc to steel, extending its life and making it more resistant to harsh environments. Plated chains are considered the cheapest type of chain. However, the zinc coating can wear down over time if the chain is constantly in contact with movement or friction.
Electrogalvanized wire is made of low-carbon steel. It is available in coil, spool, cut, and loop forms. It’s also thin and available in U-shape and spiral. Electrogalvanized wire is also available in the cold galvanized form.
