The structure of the plastic internal gear differs from the metal internal gear in several ways. The main difference is the internal gear seat, which is made of plastic material. This allows for a lower overall mass for the Plastic Internal Gear. Plastic pinions are not made of tooth-shaped transmission parts, so they are very simple and can be easily formed in the injection molding process.
The shaft of the plastic internal ring gear includes a stepped portion that engages a gear on its periphery. The stepped portion comprises two straight-edge sections and an inclined section. The rack moves along the channel as the gear turns, whereas the free end is free to move along the track.
Compared to metal gears, plastic internal gears are less expensive and do not require secondary finishing. Furthermore, due to the inherent properties of Plastic Gears, they can be made with greater precision. This represents a cost savings of fifty to ninety percent over their metal counterparts.
